The ministry expects that there will be fewer requests from farmers who want to sell crops that are legal, but there is no one to sell them, thanks to the introduction of a list of verified agricultural exporters.
The government of Ukraine is taking measures to solve the problem of “black” grains, and they are already producing tangible results. First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotsky announced this during the Cooperation 360 farmers’ congress today, November 13, writes Interfax-Ukraine.
“We have received many requests from farmers about “black” grain and stimulating sales. I think everyone has felt that a lot is being done to prevent this from happening. Fortunately, many sellers have left on the market,” said Vysotsky.
Vysotsky refused to name the companies that bought the grains and oilseeds for cash, but emphasized that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food expects that there will be fewer requests from farmers who want to sell legal crops, but nothing else, thanks to the introduction of a list of certified agricultural exporters.
As the deputy minister mentioned, the fight against “black” grain is one of the steps to return the market to the legal space.
“It also means that farmers have more opportunities to sell officially and at a better price,” Vysotsky said.
He added that the relevance of legal trade in the agricultural sector has increased, because only farmers who work legally can participate in the state loan program 5-7-9, of which 18 billion UAH is included in 2024 state budget.
“Fighting the circulation of shadow grain and lost income of farmers should help more businesses receive preferential loans,” concluded Vysotsky.
Earlier it was reported that in October Ukraine will be able to increase the export of agricultural products. At the end of October, Ukraine exported 4.8 million tons of agricultural products, which is 15% more than in September.
