The International Arbitration Court in The Hague fully upheld DTEK’s complaint against Russia for seized assets in Crimea.
Russian President Vladimir Putin handed over parts of Krymenergo seized in Ukraine to Russian authorities assigned to temporarily occupied Crimea. This is stated in the order published on the Russian legal information portal.
“Accept the proposal of the government of the Russian Federation and the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea to transfer 100 percent of the shares of the joint-stock company Krymenergo to the ownership of the Republic of Crimea,” Putin’s order said .
Currently, these parts, according to the head of the Kremlin, “are in federal ownership.”
Krymenergo is part of DTEK energy holding. It is the largest energy company in annexed Crimea. The business was “nationalized” by Russia after the annexation of the peninsula in April 2014.
Let’s recall that in September 2018, DTEK began preparing a claim against the Russian Federation due to lost assets in Crimea, and in November 2018, the energy holding filed a claim in arbitration.
At the beginning of November 2023, it was learned that the International Court of Arbitration in The Hague fully upheld DTEK’s claim against Russia regarding seized assets in Crimea.
