The Poles protesting should turn to their government, and not to Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure stressed.
Ukraine completed negotiations today with the Polish side on blocking the border of Polish carriers. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine Sergei Derkach on Facebook on Monday, November 13.
“We are trying to find compromises to increase capacity and implement the concluded memorandums, but it is difficult,” he said.
According to the official, the main demand of the protesters on the Polish side of the border is the return to the system of permits for cargo transportation for Ukrainian drivers, although this issue was not resolved in such negotiations.
Derkach stressed that the main requirement of Ukraine is the continuation of the existence of a permit-free border crossing system (visa-free transport) and its continuation – even until the victory of Ukraine in the war launched by Russia against here.
“The absurdity of the request is that the Polish protesters did not turn to their government, but Ukraine wants to turn to the EU about the permits. The protesters are not interested in other issues,” said the deputy minister.
At the meeting, the Ukrainian side proposed to the Polish authorities to launch lanes for empty trucks in the emergency zones of Ugrinov-Dolgobychev and Grushev-Budomerz.
Derkach added that Ukraine agreed to separate negotiations based on bilateral communication – with the Polish government and the voivodeships.
“We also need to involve the European Union in this conversation. They did not have time to join this meeting. Therefore, we will still wait for the EU’s response to discuss this issue in a trilateral format,” concluded the official .
We remind you that on November 6, a strike by Polish carriers began on the Polish-Ukrainian border, demanding the abolition of the visa-free transport regime for Ukraine.
Polish carriers block the movement of trucks at checkpoints Korchova – Krakovets, Grebennoye – Rava-Russkaya, Dorogusk – Yagodin. They demand the return of commercial transport permits for Ukraine.
According to the State Border Service, queues at the Polish border continue to grow. There are already over 2,500 trucks there.
