As a result, the harvest of grain and oilseed in 2023 may exceed the previous year by 7.8 million tons.
This year, the harvest of grain and oilseed in Ukraine may reach about 82 million tons. This forecast was published by the Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) on Friday, November 3.
For the fourth time this season, analysts improved the forecast by another 1.1 million tons – to 81.6 million tons of grains and oilseeds. As a result, the harvest in 2023 may exceed the previous year by 7.8 million tons.
“The continued increase in this year’s yield forecast is due to favorable weather conditions and better crop yields. This time the yield improved due to an increase in the expected yield of maize and sunflower,” the statement said.
At the same time, exports of grains and oilseeds from Ukraine in the new 2023/2024 season could potentially fall to 50 million tons compared to 58 million tons in the last season, which ended on June 30, 2023.
“This export volume can only be achieved in the new season if Ukraine is able to export through its Black Sea ports, as well as if the logistics of alternative routes, including the Danube Route, are improved and cheaper ,” analysts said.
Let’s recall that in early September, UZA estimated the potential harvest of grains and oilseeds at 80.5 million tons.
It was also reported that Ukraine has already collected more than 60 million tons of new crops.
