During the ten months of 2023, Ukraine attracted almost $35.4 billion in external financing for urgent expenses from the state budget. The Ministry of Finance announced this on Tuesday, October 31.
In particular, in October Ukraine received about $2.8 billion from partners. More than 40% of the total amount of financial aid is non-repayable term grant funds.
The donors of our state in October were the EU – $1.6 billion (concessional financing) and a grant from the USA – $1.15 billion.
“The funds from the EU are the ninth tranche within the framework of large-scale macro-financial assistance (MFA) for 2023. The total amount of funding under the MFA program is 18 billion euros, of which the Ukraine has already received 15 billion euros,” the statement said.
The US grant is part of the fifth additional funding under the World Bank project. Supporting public spending to ensure sustainable governance in Ukraine (PEACE in Ukraine). This year, Ukraine has already received $10.9 billion in grant funding from the United States.
“International funding is used to finance the priority expenditures of the state budget, especially to ensure the social protection of the population, humanitarian needs, and compensation of workers in the education and health sectors,” said the Ministry of Finance.
It was previously known that Ukraine is counting on multi-billion dollar US aid next year.
It was also reported that Ukraine needs $42 billion in external financing by 2024.
