Ukraine needs to carefully document all cases of theft of Russia’s metal and grain – this will help in future legal proceedings against the aggressor country. This was stated by Vice-President for Economic Education of the Kyiv School of Economics Oleg Nivevsky.
“I still can’t figure out how to track the grain stolen in Ukraine – it’s not marked, and it’s very difficult to find it. Metal is another thing: it has this marking, it will be easier to track it. And our homework in this situation is to document everything, to the last letter. And then the lawyers will find a way to ensure that all this is considered, “he stressed.
Nivevsky called the protection of Ukraine’s mining, metallurgical and agro-industrial complexes the main task of the authorities.
“Mining and agro-industrial complex are of enormous importance for our country. These two industries make up 35% of the Ukrainian economy. At the same time, their share in the country’s exports is much larger: about 70% of foreigners “Exchange revenues are generated by the mining and agro-industrial complex! Therefore, this issue is very serious. It is literally a matter of safety of the Ukrainian economy,” he said.
As you know, the occupiers did not hide the fact that they were exporting grain and metal products from the occupied territories of Ukraine.
In particular, the businesses of Mariupol Azovstal and MMK im. Ilyich turned to the Prosecutor General’s Office with a request to open a case on the theft of their products.
According to the Mariupol port management, the occupiers plan to seize 200,000 tons of metal worth $ 170 million.
Most metal products are owned by Metinvest. There, the actions of the Russian occupiers were compared to piracy.
