Engineers of the group improved anti-mine trawls of the KMT-7 design, creating their own analogue – paired rollers mounted on tanks.
Metinvest Group has begun mass production of anti-mine trawls attached to tanks for neutralizing and detonating anti-tank and anti-personnel mines. The first trawls have already been supplied to the units of the National Guard and Armed Forces of Ukraine, the planned production volume is up to five trawls per month, the Metinvest press service reports.
“Trawl mines of a similar design to the KMT-7, after passing all the necessary tests from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, were transferred for use in the units of the National Guard and Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is a purely Ukrainian product , produced from Ukrainian steel at Metinvest group enterprises in Ukraine as part of the Steel Front initiative of businessman Rinat Akhmetov “, the message said.
According to Metinvest, the engineers of the group improved mine-resistant trawlers of the KMT-7 design, making their own analogue – paired rollers mounted on tanks.
The cost of manufacturing a trawl is about 2.5 million UAH, taking into account the additional equipment for the tank crew required for installation. The weight of one set of rollers reaches 6.5 tons, size – 3.77 x 3.44 meters. According to the standards of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a trawl should withstand 4-5 explosions of anti-tank mines. Since the trawls work in pairs, both should withstand 8 to 10 bursts. The trawl is usually attached to the main battle tanks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“Our defenders are risking their lives every day, crossing minefields, which have been one of the biggest obstacles to our counteroffensive. We want to help maintain equipment, and above all, save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers. Therefore, we began to produce mine. trawls for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. These trawls have passed all tests and are already used in the hottest sectors of the front, taking the detonation of mines instead tanks and armored vehicles. This is only the first step for Metinvest in a major project to advance mine clearance in Ukraine. We have done and will continue to do everything to help our country win and restore peace to our land, ” commented Akhmetov on the start of production of new military equipment for his group.
Let’s recall that earlier the Metinvest group established mass production of “Lancet catchers” – engineering shelter structures to protect military equipment from attacks by enemy drones. Before this, it became known that Akhmetov’s enterprises had started serial production of models of military equipment, which distracted the Russians from real equipment.
