The Ministry of Agrarian Policy sees a trend towards an increase in the number of ships leaving Ukrainian ports.
During the operation of the new temporary sea corridor, Ukraine exported about 700 thousand tons of grain, mainly to European and African countries. This was said by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Nikolai Solsky at a meeting of the EU Council on Agriculture and Fisheries in Luxembourg, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy reported yesterday.
“In August, we opened a temporary corridor along the Black Sea. It works thanks to the support of our armed forces and the trust of international partners. Every day more and more ships enter the ports. During the operation of new corridor, 38 ships entered the ports, more than 30 are left, of course, not all of them contain grain. But we have exported almost 700 thousand tons of grain. But most of our products are now exported to along the Danube through Romania,” the minister said.
According to him, in September, Ukraine exported about 2.3 million tons of agricultural products through the Danube ports. In August, this number was slightly higher – 2.4 million tons. The entire export of agricultural products in September reached 3.6 million tons. Solsky emphasized that such volumes are not enough to export all exported agricultural products.
“We must export about 6 million tons per month to maintain our agriculture as a major sector of the economy. This volume of transportation can only be ensured by continuing the full operation of the deep water ports of Greater Odessa. We see a trend toward an increase in the number of ships leaving our ports. We hope – it will remain,” added the minister.
We remind you that, in contrast to the previously operating grain corridor, ships traveling along the new corridor not only include agricultural products, but also other cargo – metal and containers.
