Ukraine expects $300 to $500 billion in recovery projects from the confiscation of Russian assets abroad.
The government sees progress in the upcoming confiscation of Russian assets abroad. Prime Minister Denis Shmygal announced this at the Kiev International Economic Forum on Thursday, October 12.
“For the first time in recent weeks, the partners have given public signs of agreement to consider options and use in terms of interest in the use of Russian assets, their use as collateral to insure against the dangers of war and their future confiscation,” he said.
Shmygal said that all these issues are now being discussed at the fourth ministerial discussion within the framework of the annual meetings of the IMF and the World Bank.
“The ice has been broken. I am confident that next year we will fill the Restoration Fund with confiscated Russian assets located in the West in partner countries. It will be a huge amount. We expect that in total this amount should be from of 300 to 500 billion dollars, which will be directed to Ukrainian renewal projects,” added the head of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Let’s recall that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Washington is working with allies and partners in Europe to find the necessary legal framework for the use of Russian fixed assets for reconstruction projects in Ukraine.
