A corridor for moving grain through Baltic ports will ease pressure on the Ukrainian border and increase supplies to Africa and beyond, Gabrielius Landsbergis promises.
The Lithuanian authorities agreed on a corridor for the transit of Ukrainian grain to the Baltic port. This was announced by Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis on Twitter on Tuesday, October 3.
“Russia destroys food, Lithuania delivers it. A corridor for grain transit to Baltic ports was adopted and agreed, which will ease pressure on the Ukrainian border and increase supplies to Africa and beyond. Collaboration produces results!” wrote.
Earlier on Tuesday it became known that the inspection of agricultural cargo will be moved from the Polish border to the port of Klaipeda in Lithuania. We are talking about veterinary, sanitary and phytosanitary control. The move is expected to speed up transit in Poland.
Let’s recall that on September 15, the European Commission lifted the ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products to five countries neighboring Ukraine. But Poland, Hungary and Slovakia have introduced unilateral bans at the state level.
In response, Ukraine filed a case with the World Trade Organization against these three countries. Our state has also introduced a new mechanism for exporting grain to neighboring countries.
