By the end of September, 41.7 million tons of new crops had been harvested. Of these, grains and leguminous crops – 30.5 million tons.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy has again raised its forecast for this year’s grain and oilseed crops, taking into account better yields of staple crops. This was announced by the head of the finance committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Daniil Getmantsev, on Telegram on Monday, October 2.

Thus, at the end of September, the ministry estimated the amount of the future grain and oilseed harvest at 79 million tons. This is 7 million tons more (+10% compared to last year).

Getmantsev recalled that the initial harvest estimates were even worse (at 63-64 million tons), as the sown area decreased this year.

By the end of September, there were already 41.7 million tons of newly harvested products. Of these, grains and leguminous crops – 30.5 million tons, collected from an area of 6,972 thousand hectares:

  • wheat – 22.2 million tons;

  • barley – about 5.9 million tons;

  • corn – 793.2 thousand tons;

  • peas – 396.8 thousand tons;

  • buckwheat – 157.8 thousand tons;

  • millet – 139.9 thousand tons;

Let’s recall that in August the Ministry of Agrarian Policy improved the forecast for the harvest of grains and oilseeds to 76.7 million tons due to the record harvest.

In turn, the Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) estimated the potential yield of grain and oilseeds at 80.5 million tons.
