Moldova obtains gas from alternative sources by purchasing it on the European market.
Moldova will no longer buy Russian gas, because European prices are lower than Gazprom. This was stated by the Minister of Energy of Moldova, Victor Parlicov, Anadolu reports on Monday, October 2.
“We will no longer buy natural gas from Gazprom for the territory controlled by the constitutional authorities,” he told the Euro-Atlantic Resilience Forum.
According to Parlicov, Moldova obtained gas from alternative sources by purchasing it on the European market.
“Moreover, we were able to do it at a lower price than the formula we prescribed in the contract with Gazprom,” added the minister.
Earlier, Gazprom said that Moldova’s debt for supplied gas was allegedly worth $433 million, and taking into account the final payments – $709 million. But the auditors did not confirm Moldova’s debt. In addition, they came to the conclusion that the Moldovagaz company has the right to present financial demands to Gazprom. As a result, the Moldovan government offered the Russian concern $8.6 million to settle the gas debt issue.
The repair of the main gas pipeline on the border with Moldova has been completed
