After the war, up to 50 private companies will receive permits for mine clearance, said the head of Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The state will certify private companies for demining the territory. Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klimenko announced this at the Demine Urraine Forum on September 27.
According to him, the possibility of involving international partners in mine clearance, as well as the creation of private operators for this work, is being discussed.
“I think we will have 30-50 such operators throughout the state after the de-occupation of the territory. Some operators will deal with the waters of the Black and Azov Seas, others will deal with agricultural land. Therefore, there will be enough work for everyone – international partners and us,” said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Klimenko emphasized that the main goal is to clear Ukraine of mines within ten years.
Suing places is seen as an opportunity to create additional jobs. “Our people will get additional jobs from the state and international operators,” added the minister.
Let us remind you that in Ukraine it is necessary to clear about 470,000 hectares of agricultural land in nine regions. Currently, 210 crews using 350 pieces of equipment are engaged in combat and operational demining.
As reported, Ukraine is developing a mechanism to compensate farmers and strategic enterprises for mine clearance costs.
