Next year, the minimum wage could increase by 19.4%, while inflation is expected to be 10.8%.
The Cabinet of Ministers proposes to increase the minimum wage twice in 2024 – from January 1 and from April 1. This is stated in the draft state budget published by the member of the Verkhovna Rada Finance Committee Yaroslav Zheleznyak in Telegram on Friday, September 15.
In particular, it is proposed to establish a minimum wage from January 1, 2024:
-
in a monthly amount: from January 1 – 7100 hryvnia, from April 1 – 8000 hryvnia;
-
at an hourly rate: from January 1 – 42.6 hryvnia, from April 1 – 48 hryvnia.
In addition, it is proposed to determine the value of the minimum wage at the level of 1,600 hryvnias, which is used as a calculated value for calculating payments under court decisions.
Thus, the minimum wage will increase by 19.4%, while inflation is expected to be 10.8%.
In addition, the budget amendments provide that the official salary of an employee of the first tariff category of the Unified Tariff Schedule will increase from April 1 to 3195 UAH, from July 1, 2024 – 3600 UAH (now this figure is 2893 UAH).
As you know, the minimum wage in Ukraine has not changed since October 1, 2022 and is 6,700 Hryvnia. Official salaries (tariff rates) of employees of institutions, establishments and organizations of individual sectors of the public sector depend on their size. After the increase in the minimum wage, the salary of public sector employees also increased proportionally.
Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the draft budget for 2024. The defense of Ukraine was identified as a top priority. Spending on the security sector will account for half of the budget.
Remind us that in August Ukraine’s state budget deficit exceeded its revenues. This is due to the fact that Ukraine did not receive an aid grant from the United States last month.
