Poland’s production center became the second largest in the world. The company noted that it recently doubled production of HIMARS and Javelin.
The American military-industrial concern Lockheed Martin, which produces HIMARS and Javelin, has opened its plant in Poland. The RAR agency reported this on Thursday, September 14.
Vice President of the concern Jonathan Goyle said that the Polish plant has become the second largest in the world.
“The plant in Melk (a city in the Podkarpackie region of southeastern Poland – ed.) is the second largest production center of Lockheed Martin in the world. The only larger plant remains our production in Greenville in the USA,” said said Goyle.
He noted that overall diversification allowed Lockheed Martin to “double production of HIMARS and Javelin” (multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) and man-portable anti-tank missile system (ATGM)).
According to Goyle, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine showed the need for “investment in weapons, which has not been a priority for the alliance for the past 20 years.”
Goyle also said that Lockheed Martin wants to develop its activities in Poland and is now negotiating with the Polish Ministry of Defense in this regard.
It was previously reported that Lockheed Martin will develop a long-range electronic warfare system for the American army.
Poland entered into an agreement with the United States for the supply of 500 HIMARS systems
