In August of this year, the general fund of the state budget received an excise tax on excisable goods (products) produced in Ukraine and imported into the customs territory of Ukraine in the amount of 10 billion Hryvnia. The press center of the State Tax Service of Ukraine reported this on September 13.
According to the State Tax Service, 10 billion hryvnias in excise tax revenues amounted to 120.3% of the revenue indicator certified by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine (an additional 1.7 billion hryvnias were received), and of 2.3 billion hryvnias , or 29.5%, exceeded earnings in August last year.
Achieving target revenues was achieved due to additional revenues from goods produced in Ukraine, in particular, tobacco products – by 1.6 billion hryvnias (139.3% of the proven target and + 27.8% compared to August in last year), alcoholic beverages – by UAH 0.4 billion (211.7% of proven revenue and +6.9% more than last year).
In addition, by transferring to manufacturers and importers of tobacco products and liquids used in electronic cigarettes the obligation to pay a 5% excise tax on the retail sale of tobacco products, local budget revenues from with this tax has increased significantly.
Thus, in January-August 2023, the average monthly cost of payment of 5% excise tax by manufacturers and importers was UAH 638 million, which is 2.6 times more than the average monthly figures for January-April 2022.
We remind you that in July the pre-war taxes were returned to Ukraine. President Vladimir Zelensky signed a bill abolishing the 2% single tax and partially lifting the moratorium on business inspections.
