In August 2023 Ukrzaliznytsia delivered 13.8% more cargo than a year earlier, due to the intensification of domestic traffic. This was announced on September 5 by the company’s press service.
It is noted that in August, 12.266 million tons of cargo were transported in all types of messages, which is 13.8% more than in August 2022, and corresponds to the number of July 2023, despite the decrease in export traffic due to blocking of the grain agreement.
The leaders in terms of transportation by train are the Ministry of Construction Materials (3.2 million tons), coal (2.3 million tons), iron and manganese ore (2 million tons), grain cargo (1.7 million tons).
Ukrzaliznytsia explains the August growth in cargo employment indicators by the intensification of domestic traffic transport, in particular, construction cargo to restore the country’s infrastructure.
The total volume of cargo transportation in domestic traffic in August 2023 reached 8.3 million tons (+34.5% compared to August 2022). In particular, transportation of construction materials increased by 64%, coal – by 15.2%, grain cargo – by 56%, iron and manganese ore – by 38.5%.
Exports fell by 17.7% to 3.3 million tons. In particular, the transportation of the main strategic cargo – grain – showed a decrease of 45.3%, to 875.8 thousand tons.
In the past it has been reported Ukrzaliznytsia introduced restrictions on the transportation of all goods at the Izmail station in the Odessa region.
