Ukraine fulfilled its obligations to the IMF on the reform of the GTS Operator

Head of State Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on an independent supervisory board for the GTS Operator.

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on optimizing the structure of the gas transmission system operator of Ukraine. On the page of the relevant bill No. 9311-1-d on the website of the Verkhovna Rada, it is reported that the document was returned signed by the head of state on August 30.

According to the explanatory note, the law aims to introduce a sound corporate governance system GTS operatoras well as to ensure proper implementation of Ukraine’s obligations to the European Union and the IMF.

In particular, the document provides for:

  • initiation of corporate restructuring of the LLC GTS operator of Ukraine according to the agreed target model;

  • transfer of corporate rights to LLC GTS operator of Ukraine from AO Main gas pipelines Ministry of Energy, as well as the adoption of a new charter GTS operatorits version will be developed and approved by the Energy Community Secretariat;

  • conducting competitive selection and appointment of the LLC’s supervisory board GTS operator of Ukraine.

It was previously reported that Germany may develop projects to modernize the Ukrainian gas transmission system for transporting hydrogen.
