The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) sent letters to companies from the list of international war sponsors, inviting the heads of such companies to visit Ukraine. So, they will see the consequences of Russian aggression with their own eyes and discuss the issues of removing their business from Russia. NAPC reported this on Wednesday, August 16.
“We want to clearly show the international business where and what exact taxes it pays to the terrorist state. That is why we invite the management of companies from the list of sponsors of the war in Ukraine. We are ready to show the horror that Russia brought to our land and continues to do so,” said Alexander Novikov, head of the NAPC.
NAPC is open to dialogue regarding the strategies of companies from the list of war sponsors to withdraw from Russia. The agency also expects to hear relevant public statements from companies condemning Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, to see corporate decisions on business activity in the Russian Federation: reduction or exit from the market.
Such an initiative is fully in line with the UN guidelines on business and human rights, which responsible businesses must follow, the NAPC notes.
NAPC recalled that the list of international sponsors of the war on the War and Sanctions portal is a tool introduced by the agency to encourage international companies that continue to work in the Russian Federation to leave Russia, pay taxes, and support the aggressor. troops with goods and services. The agency noted that the actions on the part of the companies create in the eyes of the world community the illusion of “normality” of cooperation with the aggressor.
When compiling the list, NAPC refers to Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) standards for responsible business conduct. The financing of the aggressor country is completely against them.
Recall that the NAPC did not include the first company from the list of international sponsors of the war – the Irish Peninsula Petroleum Limited, which is the world’s supplier of marine fuel.
