Gas officials in the Dmitry Firtash region stole more than 70% of the funds that were supposed to be for the purchase of gas.
In Ukraine, the assets of the sanctioned businessman Dmitry Firtash were seized for a total of UAH 7.4 billion. This was announced by the Bureau of Economic Security on Tuesday, August 15.
The department recalled that the suspicion was revealed to the heads of three gas companies in the region – Volyngaz, Kryvorizhgaz and Chernigovgaz, controlled by the Regional Gas Company (RGC) of Dmitry Firtash.
In particular, the chairman of the board of Krivorozhgaz is suspected of causing damage to the state in more than 202 million hryvnias, the chairman of the board of Volyngas – more than 130 million, and the chairman of the board of Chernihivgaz – almost 220 million hryvnias.
“In order to ensure compensation for the damage caused by the state, the BEB seized the movable and immovable property of the persons informed about the suspicion for the total amount of UAH 246 million and the corporate rights of a sanction of entrepreneurs for the total amount of more than UAH 7.4 billion,” the report said. .
It will be recalled that earlier the SBU, together with the BEB, exposed a large-scale scheme: the officials of the regional gas company Firtash stole more than 70% of the funds that were supposed to be for the purchase of gas.
In 2021 alone, the defendants’ illegal activities caused damage to the state of more than 4.2 billion hryvnias. And the total amount of damage, according to preliminary estimates, in the period 2016-2022 may reach more than 18 billion Hryvnia.
