The total demand for buckwheat in the domestic market is estimated at 125-130 thousand tons per year, reported the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business.
Prices for buckwheat in Ukraine returned to the pre-war level – 44.4 UAH/kg. This was reported by agronews.ua with reference to the data of the Ukrainian Club of Agricultural Business association.
Compared to last year, prices for a popular product dropped by 53%.
The price drop is due to excess supply over demand.
Data from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy show that in 2022, buckwheat crops increased by more than 30% compared to pre-war 2021, and the total area under harvest for the current year reached 120.7 thousand hectares, which almost completely corresponds to the area of buckwheat grain harvested last year ( 121 thousand hectares).
It is reported that the total demand for buckwheat in the domestic market is estimated at 125-130 thousand tons per year.
During this period, taking into account the transition balances, the available resource will reach 165 thousand tons, which is now sufficient for both domestic needs and for the development of export potential.
Earlier, the Ministry of Economy predicted what will happen to prices in Ukraine in the coming months.
