The new longwalls will make it possible to supply thermal power plants with quantities of coal sufficient for their stable operation, the company said.
In January-July, DTEK Energy’s businesses operated more than half of the coal longwalls planned for the current year – 15. The company announced this on Wednesday, August 9.
In total, DTEK coal mining plans to launch 27 new longwalls. This will make it possible to provide thermal power plants with sufficient amount of coal for their stable operation.
“As the experience of the last – the most difficult winter has shown, the Ukrainian energy system must be ready for anything in the coming heating season. To cope with future challenges, electrical engineers prepares and restores equipment damaged by enemy attacks 24/7, and miners – day and night support the speed and volume of coal production necessary for the sustainable operation of Ukrainian thermal generation,” said Ildar Saleev, CEO of DTEK Energy.
As a reminder, since the beginning of the year, DTEK has repaired nine TPP power units, and seven more are under repair. The company has spent almost UAH 2 billion on their repairs since the beginning of the year.
DTEK also announced an increase in generation at TPPs by 30%. The company reacted to the large increase in electricity consumption due to the summer heat.
