From the beginning of 2023, the regulator sold almost $12 billion in the interbank market, and bought only $165 million.
The National Bank of Ukraine sold nearly $436 million and bought $8.3 million between June 19 and 23. This was confirmed by the regulator’s data on Sunday, June 25.
The amount of money sold was roughly in line with last week, when about $447 million was sold.
In total, since the beginning of 2023, the regulator sold almost $11.9 billion in the interbank market, and bought only $165 million. The negative balance grew to more than $11.7 billion.
Recall that according to the results of May, the international reserves of Ukraine increased by 3.8% to $37.3 billion and updated the maximum for 11 years. Against this background, the NBU sold $1.9 billion in the foreign exchange market, which is 40.7% more than in April.
Also in June, it was reported that the National Bank had eased some of the currency restrictions.
