The best way for investors is to start implementing any plans in our country now, believes Maxim Timchenko.

Investors can come to Ukraine and build new projects even in conditions of an all-out war. This is what DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko said in an interview with the American television channel CNBC at a conference on the restoration of Ukraine, held in London.

“During the war, we built a wind farm. 114 MW capacity, 200 million euros of investment. This is what we are doing. Here we present another project with a total capital investment of 450 million euros. Our message at this conference is that we move from statements to actions. The project we presented here is our demonstration that even in times of war, investors can come and build,” said Timchenko.

In his opinion, the best way for investors is to start implementing any plans in Ukraine now. As an example, he mentioned the construction of wind and solar power plants. In fact, in the first year and a half, time goes into the development of the project and there is no need to attract large capital, bring equipment and build something.

The head of DTEK emphasized that green generation has advantages over traditional ones due to decentralization.

“Missiles can kill a large power plant, but it is difficult to hit two hundred wind turbines. And even if they hit one, the others will continue to work. I am sure that the future of Ukraine depends on decentralized clean generation, and the country will play an important role in Europe’s energy security,” he summarized.

It will be recalled that in mid-May, DTEK launched the first phase of the Tiligulskaya wind farm with a capacity of 114 MW. It is the first wind farm in the world built during the war.

Maxim Timchenko also announced DTEK’s plans to carry out post-war reconstruction of the energy infrastructure in the areas around Kyiv by building an “intelligent” Smart Grid network.
