In Ukraine, farmers are completing the sowing season. In the past week, 14 thousand hectares were sown with grain and leguminous crops, compared to 133.3 thousand hectares the previous week and 193.5 thousand hectares the previous week. This is confirmed by the data of the Ministry of Agropolitics and Food.

Thus, as of June 15, the area under spring cereals and legumes reached 5.618 million hectares, which is 3% higher than predicted in March.
At the same time, the sown areas are 9.3% less than last year: on June 9, 2022, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, they reached 6196.6 million hectares, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
The backlog is mainly formed due to the most popular crops – corn, spring barley, the crops of which are respectively 13.5% and 14.9% less than last year and amount to 4.014 thousand hectares and 810.0 thousand hectares .
At the same time, for corn, they exceeded the Ministry of Agrarian Policy’s forecast of 3.618 million hectares by 11%, while 78% of the expected 1.041 million hectares were planted with barley.
Last year’s millet crops were exceeded, where 49.2 thousand hectares of land were occupied, but this is 82% of the area expected this year.
At the same time, the area under other grain crops is greater than a year ago. This applies to spring wheat – 271.1 thousand hectares (by 41.9%), peas – 138.5 thousand hectares (by 5.7%), buckwheat – 119.7 thousand hectares (59%).
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, farmers from 14 regions completed the sowing of spring crops: Vinnitsa, Transcarpathian, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovograd, Lviv, Odessa, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Cherkasy, Chernihiv and Chernivtsi regions.

The sowing of sweet beets has been completed, the area under which reached 213.1 thousand hectares, which accounted for 97% of the plan. The areas under sunflower and soybeans lag behind the planned indicators, by 94% and 96%, respectively, they amount to 5283.8 and 1773.5 thousand hectares.
Recall that the US improved the forecast for the harvest and export of Ukrainian wheat and corn. Production indicators increased to 17.5 million tons and 24.5 million tons, respectively.
