Peninsula Petroleum has stopped supplying bunker fuel to Russian ships, as well as to those ships carrying Russian oil.
The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption removed from the list of international sponsors of the war the first company – the Irish Peninsula Petroleum Limited, which is the supplier of marine fuel to the world. This was reported by the NAPC press service on Friday, June 16.
“For the first time since the beginning of the creation of the list of international sponsors of war – a powerful tool of reputational pressure on companies that continue to cooperate with the Russian Federation after a large-scale invasion, the first company is excluded from in this,” the report said.
It was noted that Peninsula Petroleum Limited sent a letter to the NAPC stating the conditions met, allowing it to be excluded from the aforementioned list. The company stopped supplying bunker fuel not only to ships owned by the Russians or sailing under the Russian flag, but also to those carrying Russian oil. These measures were taken as a sign of condemnation of the Russian aggression.
Thus, Peninsula Petroleum Limited fulfilled all the necessary conditions by choosing the path of a socially responsible business.
“The first exclusion from the list of international sponsors of war is the best proof that this tool really works. We want this list to go down, and not vice versa,” said Alexander Novikov, head of the NAPC.
He expressed hope that the decision of Peninsula Petroleum Limited will be an example for other companies that value their reputation and do not want to be associated with the Russian regime. The Agency is open to cooperation with international business and is ready to refer to the steps necessary for delisting.
It will be recalled that Peninsula Petroleum Limited was included in the list of international sponsors of the war in April this year.
Last month, NAPC identified the maker of Mishka Barney biscuits and Milk chocolates as a war sponsor.
