The new bridge will allow Ukrainian exporters to get the shortest route to EU countries, bypassing unrecognized Transnistria.
Ukraine and Moldova will build a strategic bridge across the Dniester River near the settlements of Yampol-Koseuts. The corresponding agreement was signed by the Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration – Minister for the Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Alexander Kubrakov and the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova Lilia Dabizha, the Ministry of Restoration has report on Monday, June 12.
“The signing of the Agreement is a practical continuation of the agreements reached in 2021 by the presidents of Ukraine and Moldova… The bridge will be a key link in the transport corridor between Kiev and Chisinau. In addition, thanks to the bridge , Ukrainian exporters will receive the shortest route from the center of Ukraine to the countries of Central and South-Eastern Europe, bypassing Pridnestrovie occupied by Russia,” said Kubrakov.
The Yampolsky bridge will be an alternative to the ferry crossing at the Yampol-Koseuts border crossing and will allow the reduction of the international checkpoint Mogilev-Podolsky-Otach, through which almost the entire traffic flow between Ukraine passes and Moldova.
The total length of the bridge is more than 1400 meters. It will have two lanes with sidewalks on both sides, as well as consider barrier-free standards, in particular, it will provide sidewalks with a reduced level of curvature within pedestrian crossings and tactile warnings stripes.
Recall that in February 2022, Ukraine began work on the construction of the Yampolsky bridge across the Dniester River. It will be part of the route from the central region of Ukraine to the countries of Central and South-Eastern Europe, bypassing Pridnestrovie.
It has also been reported that Romania will build a bridge to Ukraine across the Tisza River. It will consist of two parallel 260 meter bridges with a distance of three meters between them.
