Significant assistance to the Ukrainian military is provided as part of the Steel Front military initiative.

The Metinvest company of businessman Rinat Akhmetov has sent more than 2 billion hryvnias to help the Ukrainian Armed Forces since the beginning of the full offense unleashed by Russia. This was reported in the company’s report dedicated to the 17th anniversary of its creation.

It is implied that military aid is being provided as part of the Steel Front military initiative. In the spring of 2022, Metinvest launched steel production, from which plates for body armor were made. More than 150,000 bulletproof vests have been sent to the front. The company also created a stock of ready-made plates: their military personnel could receive them free of charge upon request.

Companies also produce armored shields for operators of large-caliber weapons and protective elements for vehicles operating in the line of fire from special steel. Metinvest also donated more than 200 mobile shelters to the front lines to strengthen the trenches: the corrugated steel structure, if properly installed, can even withstand a shell with a 152-mm shell.

In addition, Metinvest established a systematic supply of front-end equipment and machinery, some of which was purchased abroad. The Ukrainian army has already received 1,200 drones, making the company one of the largest private suppliers of drones for the army. The company also provided the Armed Forces of Ukraine with 1,700 thermal imagers, 376 vehicles, including ambulances. And 1.2 million liters of fuel were given for refueling equipment.

For the newly formed volunteer battalion of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Offensive Guards, Metinvest donated equipment worth UAH 10 million – night vision devices, rangefinders, sights, binoculars, quadrocopters, charging stations, starlinks, tablets and laptops . And the fighters of the Third Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine received equipment for building communication networks, special equipment for armored personnel carriers and charging stations for more than 20 million hryvnias.

Metinvest, together with the PULSE charitable foundation, develops tactical medicine in Ukraine. The company allocated almost UAH 8.5 million to organize training for military personnel in the combat zone. In addition, Metinvest provided 31,500 first aid kits and hemostatic tourniquets to defenders.

Earlier it became known that in total Metinvest sent 37 billion Hryvnia to help Ukraine since the beginning of the war. The humanitarian project of the company Save Lives has helped almost 500,000 Ukrainians in 70 territorial communities.

Metinvest also launched a project aimed at helping Ukrainians with prosthetics. The online educational platform Knowledge Base: Protez Hub for specialists and victims of foot prosthetics was also launched.
