The European Union has extended the ban on the import of certain types of agricultural products from Ukraine for five EU members until September 15 in their gradual elimination. The corresponding decision on Monday, June 5, reports the European Commission.
“Until September 15, 2023, the EU is gradually removing the exceptional and temporary measures taken on May 2, 2023 on the import of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds from Ukraine,” the message said.
They also added that the scope of restrictive measures for these products will be reduced from 17 to six tariff lines.
“The phased cancellation will significantly improve the work of the “unity methods” and solve the problems associated with the export of Ukrainian grain from the country during this year’s harvest,” the EU believes.
They also added that in the event that the transit of Ukrainian goods is hindered by excessively burdensome requirements in one or more of the five member states, the Commission will examine whether the essential conditions for the introduction of these measures remain avoid.
