Buyers of future products are already being sought – in Sweden, Austria and Germany, said Yury Ryzhenkov, CEO of Metinvest.
Metinvest has been completely restructuring its business since the outbreak of a full-scale war between Russia and Ukraine. Currently, its enterprises continue production and plan to produce DRI (carbon neutral steel) products at the rebuilt plants in Mariupol. This was said by Yuri Ryzhenkov, CEO of Metinvest.
“The Black Sea ports where the company exported products were blocked by the Russians. Therefore, Metinvest built new logistics from scratch – today most of the transport in Europe is carried out by train, as well as through the ports of Romania and Poland. The company also took care of the availability of alternative sources of electricity,” – said the article.
Now Metinvest is ready to provide steel for the restoration of damaged infrastructure and housing. And after the liberation of Mariupol, the company dreams of restoring the metallurgical plants there by developing the production of carbon-neutral steel, which will give a new impetus to the development of Ukrainian metallurgy.
“The fact that Metinvest is able to produce DRI products and can increase its volume opens up new European markets for us. Now we are looking for customers in Sweden, Germany and Austria, where iron products ore was not previously given,” said Ryzhenkov.
At the same time, he noted that one of the most important factors that will help continue the work of the mining and metallurgical complex, and therefore the country’s economy, is the opening of Ukrainian ports for export. This will create conditions for the rapid recovery of industrial production and GDP in Ukraine, will save hundreds of thousands of jobs and provide billions in Hryvnia taxes.
It became known yesterday that Metinvest developed a concept for the rapid recovery of Ukraine. It is called Steel Dream and has been shown to local communities and the architecture and construction business forum.
It was also reported that Metinvest together with partners from Italy will provide steel for the restoration of Ukraine. We are talking about cooperation in the field of transport, energy and social infrastructure.
