The large wind turbines could provide electricity to 200,000 homes, the journalists wrote.
The Tiligul wind farm of Rinat Akhmetov’s DTEK company, built in the Mykolaiv region, 100 kilometers from the front line, makes a significant contribution to ensuring Ukraine’s energy independence. This was reported by the French newspaper Le Figaro.
“19 turbines, monsters with a capacity of 6 megawatts (MW) each, heavier than two Airbus A330s (730 tons) with towers 125 meters high, can provide electricity to 200,000 homes .. . This is a major contribution to the country’s energy independence,” the journalists wrote.
During construction, more than 100 km of roads were laid, and 600 km of cables were laid underground.
“No one thought that this wind farm would be built at the height of the war,” said Maxim Timchenko, CEO of DTEK.
In addition to the military challenges, during the construction of the station, the company’s employees faced difficulties due to extremely difficult weather conditions. So, the rains flooded the construction site, and later, due to a cold snap, a construction crane froze. But power engineers have overcome these difficulties.
Recall that on May 22, the first stage of the Tiligulskaya wind farm was implemented. In the future, it will be the largest in Eastern Europe with a total capacity of 500 MW.
Maxim Timchenko said that DTEK will continue to invest in green energy.
