Since the beginning of the year, the state budget of Ukraine has received almost UAH 3.2 billion thanks to the “Google tax”. This was announced by the head of the tax committee of the Verkhovna Rada Daniil Getmantsev on Telegram on May 25.
According to him, the tax payment deadline for the 1st quarter of 2023 is June 9, so more than UAH 0.7 billion is expected to be paid.
“According to the results of the simplified value added tax declarations filed for the 1st quarter of 2023, non-residents declared almost 23.5 million euros and 27.1 million dollars, or 1.9 billion hryvnias,” the people’s representative wrote.
The largest amounts were declared for the 1st quarter of 2023 by Google Play, Google, Etsy, Sjny, Netflix, Apple, Meta, Valve Software, Amazon. Since the beginning of the year, Only Fans calculated $620,000 in taxes and paid UAH 23.3 million to the budget.
MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak said on Telegram that the biggest payer of the “Google tax” in Ukraine in 2023 is Meta Platforms Inc. (Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram) – $10.3 million and Google – $5.7 million.
As of April 1, 2023, 87 payers are subject to income reporting, which is 30 more than a year earlier.
It will be remembered that in June 2021, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law according to which foreign technology giants such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, Netflix and others will pay 20% VAT.
In March of this year, Uber and Bolt taxi services became “Google tax” payers.
