The Ukrtatneft company also transferred to the budget more than UAH 1.2 billion of taxes that were not paid by the former owners. This was reported by the SBU on Wednesday, May 24.
“Thanks to the investigation of the Security Service and the BEB into the corruption schemes of the former management of PJSC Ukrnafta and PJSC Ukrtatneft, the budget of Ukraine was filled with another UAH 1.2 billion. The current management of PJSC Ukrtatneft transferred the corresponding amount to state as taxes not paid by the previous owners,” the message said.
These funds will be used to meet the needs of the Defense Forces.
Earlier, law enforcement officials exposed the leadership of Ukrtatneft for the misuse of oil products totaling more than 2 billion hryvnias. The SBU recalled that a former director of the company, who is in custody, was notified of the suspicion of the fact of tax evasion.
The company’s previous management sold gasoline through a network of gasoline stations without paying excise tax, although the amount of excise duty was included in the price for consumers.
As part of criminal proceedings, investigative actions are carried out to establish all circumstances of illegal activities and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Recall that in April Ukrtatneft additionally transferred UAH 687 million in taxes to the budget.
Earlier in February, the SBU and BEB conducted searches at the house of oligarch Igor Kolomoisky in connection with the fraud case at Ukrnafta and Ukrtatnafta.
After that, it became known that the schemes for the misuse of UAH 40 billion by the former owners and management of Ukrnafta and Ukrtatnafta were exposed. The chief accountant and former director of Ukrtatneft was notified of the suspicion.
