The hryvnia strengthened significantly against the euro at exchange offices

The cash rate of the euro in exchange offices immediately fell by 15 kopecks – to 40.95 hryvnia per euro.

The Ukrainian hryvnia ended the working week with another rise against the dollar and the euro. RBC-Ukraine reported this with reference to market monitoring data on Friday, May 19.

Today, the dollar exchange rate on sale fell by 5 kopecks to 37.60 Hryvnia per dollar. And the euro exchange rate immediately fell by 15 kopecks – to 40.95 hryvnia per euro.

In the cash market, the average dollar exchange rate is:

  • purchase – 37.05 UAH (37.10 – 18 May)

  • sale – UAH 37.55 (37.60 – May 18) per dollar.

The average euro exchange rate is:

  • purchase – UAH 40.25 (UAH 40.40 – May 18),

  • sale – 40.95 UAH (41.10 – May 18) per euro.

The official fixed rate of the NBU is 36.5686 hryvnia per dollar and is valid from July 21, 2022. And the euro exchange rate has slightly decreased and now stands at 39.5471 hryvnia per euro (-0.0476 hryvnia).

It will be remembered that the situation in the foreign exchange market worsened last week. The NBU doubled the sale of dollars from reserves – up to $535 million.
