Billie Eilish Shares She’s ‘Too Hurt’ When People Laugh At Her Tourette’s Syndrome Tics –

Billy Ailey spread awareness of living with Tourette’s syndrome.

Eiley was diagnosed with Tourette at age 11, which causes uncontrollable repetitive movements or unwanted sounds known as tics.

Ticks are involuntary and can be identified by actions such as repeated blinking, shrugging, and pronouncing offensive words. According to the Mayo Clinic.

“If you shoot for a long time, you’ll see a lot of ticks,” Eilish told Letterman.

The “Ocean Eyes” singer shared that sometimes people don’t understand her ticks in social interactions.

“The most common way people react is to laugh because they think I’m trying to be funny,” he said. “And I’ve always been incredibly hurt by that.”

Most of her ticks have faded, but Eilish revealed that she still has light ticks that others don’t notice.

“These are things you wouldn’t notice if you started talking to me,” the 20-year-old said. “But for me they’re too tiring.”

Eiley is not alone in her struggle. He found that this disorder was more common than initially thought and He revealed that other artists have entrusted him with their own fights against Tourette.

“It’s funny that so many people have it that you don’t understand,” he said. Some artists came out and said: “I’ve really always had Tourette.”

The pop star did not disclose the names of any of the artists out of respect for their privacy. “I don’t leave them because they don’t want to talk about it, but it’s really interesting for me.”

To Eiley, who is currently traveling with him “Happy than ever on a world tour”, – he said he had no tic during the show. “When I move, I don’t ask.”

The young musician told Letterman that over time he would be comfortable talking about the excitement even if he didn’t have all the answers.

“I’m really happy to answer questions about him because he’s very, very interesting and I’m incredibly confused about it,” Elish said. “I do not understand.”
