Cranes have only until this week to adapt to the measure establishing the sale of only two types of gasoline and gasoline in accordance with the provisions Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem).
Exactly on May 1, the 120-day deadline set for the commercialization of regular and premium gasoline is completed, gasoline with an octane rating of 90, 95 and 97 disappears from the market.
Another thing is gasoline and gas holes 84 octane, the cheapest and easily available for carriers with fewer resources. This fuel may continue to be sold throughout the country until December 2023, although in some regions the period may be longer.
Minem regulations indicate that 84 octane gasoline can be sold in Amazonas, Loreto, Madre de Dios and San Martin until June 2024.
Will this affect prices?
A few months ago, Minem officials assured that this simplification would not increase fuel prices.
Some experts even point out that this measure could mean lower prices for petrol and gas wells due to lower costs in the system.
“Almost all the cranes have started to fall, it already feels like some kind of readjustment on the part of the cranes, because they are going to cut marketing costs. 4 or 5 types of tanks, all this was paid for by the logistics service, here it only simplifies two,” said Aurelio Ochoa, a hydrocarbon specialist.
The Energy and Mining Investment Supervision Agency (Osynergmin) also reported this week that regular gasoline and 84 octane gasoline, which is already sold in some regions, fell SGD 0.28 per gallon to SGD 9.90. and SGD 8.79 respectively.
In the case of premium gasoline, the wholesale reference price fell 0.27 spires per gallon to an average of 10.39 spires.
Taking into account gas holes premium, regular and 84 octane, wholesale prices were reduced by S/0.26 each and remained at S/10.42, S/9.97 and S/8.95 per gallon.
Recall that at the beginning of this month, the Association of Refuelers and Gas Stations of Peru (Agesp) already indicated that more than 90% of gas stations in Lima and Callao are ready to sell premium and regular gasoline.
As they explained, the main change that they have to make is a change in shields and a redistribution of the location of tanks and counters.
