Inflation in the eurozone would be higher without the supply of agricultural products from Ukraine, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy said.

The export of Ukrainian agricultural products made it possible to contain inflation in the countries of the European Union. This was announced on the air of the national telethon of the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotsky.

Referring to one of the reports of the European Commission, he noted that, in general, the supply of agricultural products from Ukraine, on the contrary, helped to contain inflation in the European Union.

“That is, they (inflation – ed.) they had significant, but without this supply will be more. All this is included in the report,” said the deputy minister.

Vysotsky emphasized that Russia’s all-out invasion of Ukraine led to an increase in prices for agricultural products on the world market, and this had a different effect for different countries. In particular, for export-oriented countries, the economic impact of price increases is positive.

According to the Deputy Minister, discussions are now ongoing on the export of Ukrainian agricultural products to EU countries, and the impact of increased supplies is discussed separately for each state.

“We hope that it will be possible to arrange in numbers that it is useful for us to cooperate in the first place, including in the field of the agro-industrial complex,” Vysotsky emphasized.

Recall that Poland, Hungary and Slovakia have banned the import of agricultural products from Ukraine. Bulgaria is considering a similar decision.

The head of the Verkhovna Rada committee on finance, tax and customs policy, Daniil Getmantsev, said that Ukraine will incur huge losses due to the embargo on the export of its agricultural products to neighboring EU countries. Up to 20% of all agricultural products from Ukraine are exported through Poland and Hungary.
