An increase in the technical feasibility of commercial electricity exchange is taking into account the launch of a new interconnector between Ukraine and Poland.
Ukrenergo and the European energy association ENTSO-E have increased technical capabilities for importing electricity to Ukraine. The Ukrainian company announced this on Tuesday, April 18.
It is indicated that it is now possible to import up to 1050 MW of power from the continental European zone to the Ukraine/Moldova bloc, which is 200 MW more than before. Such an increase in the technical possibility of commercial exchange takes into account the launch of a new interconnector between Ukraine and Poland, scheduled for early May of this year.
In the coming weeks, power engineers will consider the possibility of further increasing the capacity between continental Europe and Ukraine-Moldova in both directions.
It will be remembered that on March 16, 2022, Ukraine and Moldova synchronized their electrical networks with the EU network. This is an “energy visa-free regime” in the EU, which the Ukrainian authorities have been working on for a long time.
Since then, the technical capabilities for importing electricity from EU countries have continued to expand. It helped Ukraine a lot this winter in the face of regular missile strikes by Russian aggressors.
