The company faced dissatisfaction after the resumption of official exports.
Recognizing the duty to care for our employees and partners, we cannot subject them to massive criticism in any of its manifestations. Therefore, The Absolut Company has decided to stop exporting its brand to Russia, according to a statement posted on the company’s website.
On April 12, the French concern Pernod Ricard, which owns the Absolut Company, announced the resumption of supplies of vodka to Russia. The company explained this step by taking care of local workers.
Since the outbreak of hostilities, Pernod Ricard has shown respect for employees both in Ukraine and in Russia. As part of the sanctions, the group is supplying products in quantities that can protect local employees and ensure the financial sustainability of the local organization, Pernod Ricard said in a letter.
Pernod Ricard is one of the largest spirits producers in the world. The concern produces whiskey Chivas Regal, Jameson and Ballantine’s, Olmeca tequila and other drinks. In March 2022, the concern stopped the supply of alcohol to Russia.
Diageo (Johnnie Walker, Baileys), LVMH (Hennessy, Moet & Chandon, Bacardi Limited) and Brown Forman (Jack Daniel’s and Finlandia) also announced a halt to exports to the Russian market.
