Some models fall in price by $5,000. By lowering prices, the company wants to support demand for its products.
The American manufacturer of electric cars Tesla has carried out another wave of price cuts for its products in the United States. This time the prices were reduced by 2-6%, some models dropped by $5,000, Reuters.
The company is reducing prices for the entire model range for the fifth time since the beginning of the year. The strongest price reduction was in January – in Europe, Tesla electric cars fell by 20%. With such measures, the manufacturer wants to support the demand for its electric vehicles.
It comes at a time when the US is preparing to adopt tougher standards that will limit electric vehicle tax credits.
Tesla has cut prices on both versions of its Model 3 sedan by $1,000 and the Model Y crossover by $2,000. The company also cut prices on both versions of its more expensive Model S and Model X by $5,000.
The automaker noted that the tougher US standards will cut a $7,500 tax credit on the base rear-wheel-drive Model 3, which has been in place since January.
As a reminder, this week Tesla reported that nearly 423,000 vehicles were delivered in the first quarter, just 4% from the previous quarter, after price cuts in the US, China and other markets aimed at stimulating demand.
This year, Tesla has set itself a target of 1.8 million deliveries.
