For this long Easter break, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MoSETOUR) forecasts that the tourism sector will bring in about SGD 107 million, but how much will each of them spend? traveler?
While Peru’s Export and Tourism Promotion Commission (Promperú) estimated last year that national travelers spend an average of S$657 on a five-day trip to the country’s hinterland, spending on that vacation will be higher.
An analysis by the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL) shows that local tourists they will spend around S$800 per person for transportation, food and lodging during these free days.
CCL points out that costs typically increase by 30-40% during this season, especially in air and land transport, guide services and hotels.
However, the CCL Tourism award indicates that spending in restaurants and entrance to tourist sites remain unchanged.
Where are they going?
The study shows that the majority of national travelers will choose to visit places closer to their place of residence this year, no more than four hours away, given the current rainy situation.
“In this way, they will also choose places that have not been affected by weather conditions and social upheaval to ensure their safety and security,” said Marienela Mendoza, President of the CCL Tourism Guild.
Thus, the destinations that stand out for this long holiday for travelers from Lima are: Lunahuana, Azpitia, the beaches of Cañete, Barranca and Huacho; Uaral, Caral and Ika also appear.
In case of long distances, travelers also choose to travel to Directions known for their tourist attractions and religiosity; such as Ayacucho, Cusco, Arequipa and Huaraz (Ancash).
