This year, Ukraine will be able to use no more than $14 billion for restoration, Sergey Marchenko said.
If an agreement is reached with the IMF on a four-year program for $15.6 billion, the problem of financing the state budget deficit in 2023 will be solved. In this case, the Ministry of Finance will actively seek funds for the restoration of Ukraine, said the head of the department Serhiy Marchenko on the telethon air on Wednesday, March 29.
“We are actively working to raise funds for recovery, and this will now be the main focus and priority of our activities,” he said.
Marchenko called the IMF’s anchor program, which would allow the consolidation of donor support.
“If all the obligations taken by the G7 countries are fulfilled, we can close the state budget deficit for 2023,” said the minister.
And speaking about the increase of funds for restoration, Marchenko said that this year Ukraine will be able to master no more than $14 billion – “these are the numbers agreed by the experts of the World Bank with the relevant department: the Ministry of Restoration and other ministries.”
According to him, the frozen assets of the Russian Federation are not helping to solve this problem this year. Therefore, the Ministry of Finance will freely try to find funds.
Remember, the World Bank reported that the restoration of the Ukrainian economy will cost 411 billion dollars. This amount has increased significantly compared to the estimate released in September last year.
In turn, Prime Minister Denys Shmygal clarified World Bank data on damage to Ukraine from the war.
