Now Ukraine can import up to 850 MW of electricity from EU countries at any time.
The European energy association ENTSO-E increased Ukraine’s import capacity to 850 MW from the current 700 MW. This was stated by the European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson in a press conference after the meeting of the Energy Council, the European Commission reported yesterday.
“We reaffirmed our strong support for Ukraine, and also discussed concrete ways to continue to show our solidarity in the coming months. This morning, ENTSO-E decided to increase the import capacity in Ukraine to 850 MW from the current 700 MW. This is just one step, but it is clearly progress,” said Simson.
He noted that during the meeting he informed the ministers about the plan to supply solar panels to Ukraine to provide electricity to hospitals and other civilian infrastructure.
It will be remembered that on March 16, 2022, Ukraine and Moldova synchronized their electrical networks with the EU network. This is an “energy visa-free regime” in the EU, which the Ukrainian authorities have been working on for a long time.
And in February 2023, ENTSO-E increased the technical ability to import electricity to Ukraine to 700 MW.
