The Cabinet of Ministers approved the attraction of a second grant from the United States in the amount of $2.5 billion, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this at a government meeting on Tuesday, March 28.
“Today, the government approved an order to receive a second grant this year from the United States. We are talking about $2.5 billion. These funds will come through a project of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, as well as the International Development Association. Another $150 million will be provided by our other partners. This will allow the second tranche to be attracted this year in the amount of $2,660 million,” said the prime minister.
According to Shmygal, the money will be used to pay salaries to rescuers, teachers, doctors, to help pensioners, internally displaced persons, people with disabilities and low-income families.
Remember that Ukraine spends almost the entire budget on the army. At the same time, the entire social and humanitarian component is financed with the support of Western partners.
A week ago, it was reported that the European Union transferred to Ukraine the second tranche of macro-financial assistance for 1.5 billion euros from a package totaling 18 billion euros.
