In the first year of the agreement, the volume of bilateral and transit road cargo transportation increased by more than 50%.
Ukraine and the European Union extended the agreement on the transport of cargo by road for a year, canceling permits for Ukrainian carriers. The Ministry of Infrastructure reported this on Thursday, March 16.
It was indicated that the relevant agreement was reached at the first meeting of the joint committee of the Agreement on Freight Transportation by Road.
“In the first year, the agreement proved its practical effectiveness. During its validity, the volume of bilateral and transit road cargo transportation grew by more than 50%. And this is far from the limit of our growth,” said report.
Since the signing of the agreement on June 29, 2022, the number of carriers crossing the border to the EU has increased by 53% compared to the same period in 2021, while the number of crossings itself has increased by 43%.
Recall that within three years Ukraine planned to get five visa-free regimes in the EU. Most of them have been completed. We are talking about agreements in the field of energy, customs, transport, digital market and trade conditions.
