The State Statistics Service announced a decrease in inflation in February

In the consumer market in February, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 1.5%.

As a result of February, consumer price growth in Ukraine slowed to 0.7% from 0.8% in January, returning to December’s level. This was announced by the State Statistics Service on Friday, March 10.

It is indicated that inflation of 1.6% was recorded in February 2022, therefore, in annual terms, in February 2023, it decreased to 24.9% from 26% in January and from 26.6% in December.

Core inflation fell to 0.5% last month from 0.7% in January and 0.8% in December, the State Statistics Service said.

Since in February 2022, core inflation was 1%, in annual terms, core inflation in January also fell to 22.7% from 23.3%, slightly higher than last year’s figure of 22.6%.

In the consumer market in February, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 1.5%. But overall, average food prices in February 2023 rose 31.5% compared to January last year, which was higher than headline inflation.

Over the year, among products, the most expensive price for eggs increased by 80.3%, fruit – by 74.9%, fish and fish – by 44.1%, vegetables – by 36.2%, sugar – by 32.5%, bread and bakery products. – 26.0%, pasta – by 25.8%.

Also, the price of butter increased by 24.0%, meat and meat products – by 23.2%, cheese and cottage cheese – by 23.0%, bread – by 19.3%, milk by 17.4%, sunflower oil – by 14.1%.

It will be recalled that in January 2023, consumer prices increased by 26.0% compared to January last year, which is lower than the annual inflation of the previous month (26.6%).
