A famous phrase claims that money does not bring happiness, but a recent study published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences refutes this.
A recent US study concluded that happiness it increases with income and even accelerates when wages exceed $100,000 per year, provided the person has a base level of happiness to begin with.
Previously, another study showed that happiness increases even in those who income 75 thousand US dollars per year, after this amount there was a decrease in satisfaction.
However, a new study shows that the happiness effect can be seen in those earning salaries up to $500,000 a year.
“The trend is growing steadily across the group income higher [US$ 500,000] in my data, but how far it spreads is an open question,” the researchers told Bloomberg.
In the case of the most miserable 20% of people studied, satisfaction continues to rise as the salary exceeds $100,000 per year. “It is only at this point that the happiness effect of more money stops working, and “the remaining suffering is not alleviated by high income,” they point out.
In addition, researchers Daniel Kahneman and Matthew Killingsworth found that the overall emotional effect was more money in one person is not enough compared to other circumstances, even such simple ones as two days off at the end of the week.
