The first large batch of diesel fuel from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has arrived in Germany. This was announced by the energy company Hoyer from the Lower Saxon city of Wisselhewede, TASS reports.
The shipment was released this morning in Wilhelmshaven.
The deal was made in 2022 during a visit by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to Abu Dhabi as part of the federal government’s efforts to reduce energy dependence on Russia.
The vessel with the fuel left the UAE for Europe at the end of January, part of the batch was unloaded in France.
From the beginning of this year, Germany is to receive up to 250,000 tons of diesel per month from Abu Dhabi’s National Oil Company ADNOC.
Recall that in January 2023, Scholz said that Germany succeeded in relying on Russian energy.
In mid-February, ADNOC delivered the first batch of liquefied natural gas to Germany.
