The latest inflation report from the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (ERI) showed that five cities registered more the rise in their prices within the last twelve months.
According to the report, cities Puerto Maldonado with inflation of 17.43% in the southern jungle; it is followed by Cerro de Pasco with 12.27%, Cusco with 11.82% and Puno with 11.19% in the Sierra region, and Ica with 11.12% on the coast.
Let’s remember that the average inflation rate for the country is S/8.99, this increase is due to the large increase in food and drink prices.
Which cities suffered the biggest price increases in February?
According to INEI, there was also higher growth in five cities in February, such as Puerto Maldonado (2.44%), Pucallpa (1.34%), Tacna (1.19%), Abancay (1.14%) and Cusco (1.09%). Here, the indicator exceeded the national average, which in the indicated month amounted to 0.43%.
In addition, in other cities such as Cajamarca, Chiclayo, Moquegua, Cerro de Pasco, Trujillo, Ica, Tarapoto, Ayacucho, Arequipa, Iquitos and Moyobamba, the increase is between 0.47% and 0.94%.

Inflation reached 8.99% in Peru.
According to the INEI, in Peru inflation has accumulated an increase of 8.99%, but it rose by 0.43% in February. Thus, inflation it continued above 8% for about 10 months.
Over the past 12 months, the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages (16.98%), transportation (10.25%), restaurants and hotels (9.82%), among others, have risen.
