The company plans to turn “dead” receivables into working assets, Alexey Chernyshov said.
By the end of 2022, NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine received a net loss of UAH 40 billion. Such preliminary data was announced by the head of the company’s board Oleksiy Chernyshov, reports Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday, March 1.
“We will declare some losses, if I’m not mistaken, in the range of UAH 40 billion,” he said as part of the Forbes Business Breakfast stream.
Chernyshov added that the losses were mainly due to significant receivables that arose as a result of the government’s use of NAC’s working capital to meet consumer needs in terms of energy supplies.
The main receivables at NAC consist of three parts:
-
difference in tariffs (UAH 36 billion);
-
debt of regional gas companies and gas sales companies (UAH 76 billion);
-
special commitments for 2022-2023 (UAH 158 billion).
“We have a logic, we are now strengthening this direction, we are carrying out a certain restructuring to turn a” dead “accounts receivable into a working asset …”, – said the head of NAC.
Earlier, Alexey Chernyshov estimated the damage to Naftogaz from the shelling of Russian troops at more than $1 billion. At the same time, he expects the company’s losses in 2022, but expects a profit in 2023.
Recall that at the end of 2021, Naftogaz’s net income reached UAH 12.023 billion against a net loss of UAH 19.002 billion in 2020.
